This week's question was from John in Selma: How do I get my kids to eat healthy?
Jeff:
The first thing you should do is to have regular family meals and serve healthy food at those meals. By getting your kids on a regular eating schedule, they will not "snack" on unhealthy foods as much because they know the meal is coming. I'm sure you have heard your parent tell you, "Don't eat that, you'll ruin your dinner." Also, be a role model to your kids when you eat. If they see you eating junk foods, that's what they are going to want. It is also helpful to involve your kids in meal planning and preparation. When they feel they have an important role in what they eat, they are much more likely to eat the actual meal prepared, and not wait for a snack to fill them up later. Healthy food can be great tasting, and will benefit you and your family in many ways.
